Overlooking Barleycove Beach,
Crookhaven Harbour and the islands beyond, the cottage occupies
a superb location and offers the perfect place for exploring the
stunning, unspoilt landscape of southern Ireland. Located on the
Mizen Peninsula, the most southwesterly part of Ireland, jutting out
into the Atlantic Ocean it is one of the most beautiful natural
landscapes on the coast of Europe. Originally an 18th century
farmhouse and built from the local stone, it has within its old
stone walls a series of small gardens and an old slate patio looking
south, offering both shelter and tranquility.
Within easy reach can be found some
of the best restaurants in Europe, and the local bars also provide
excellent seafood lunch menus and impromptu entertainment 'Irish
style' at night. Simply explore the unspoiled landscape or visit
some of the quaint, nearby villages. Take a boat to the islands,
visit the beautiful County of Kerry or just relax, and listen to the
birdsong and the tranquil sound of the sea.
Available close by you can enjoy fishing, golf, horse riding,
boating and water sports, and there are several interesting
historical sites to visit.
Newly restored by the local architect
it offers every modern facility whilst retaining the charm of its
origins. A wooden floor and an open beamed ceiling to the ground
floor accommodate the large open plan living room and kitchen, with
a shower room off. An old cast iron spiral stairs leads to the first
floor bedrooms, where under the timber roof are double and twin
bedded rooms, giving fantastic views over the fields down to the
sea. The cottage is centrally heated, and has an open fire, central
heating, and a TV / Video. The kitchen is well fitted with electric
cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer and
dishwasher. Private parking is available.
